Went to the Goo Goo Dolls & Counting Crows concert at the Tampa Bay “Ford” Amphitheater this last Friday. The concert and venue were both pretty good. One interesting this happened at the end of the concert during the encore. Adam Duritz spoke for about 3 or 4 minutes about voting. He didn’t specifically tell people who or what to vote for, but was telling mostly the younger folks in the audience that they only have themselves to be blamed if they don’t like what is happening. That they need to vote and they we are lucky to have the right to vote. He went on to admonish women who don’t vote because historically, women in America have only had the right to vote for about 90 years. Not until the 19th Amendment was passed in 1920 have women had that right, and by not voting you were letting down your grandmothers and great-grandmothers who fought hard to get the equality that women have today.
Mr. Duritz continued on to tell people that they need to stay informed about the news, because it is the indifference that ensure that people don’t vote.
