The anti-war folks would have you believe that if we leave Iraq right now, the world will go back to normal. Unfortunately this is simply not the case. Here is the real situation of why we are in Iraq.

First, we went there because it was believed that they had Weapons of Mass distruction, not because of 9/11 or Al Quaida. I believe Colon Powell believed his intelligence when he delivered it at the UN.

But here’s the situation as it stands today: The country is made up of basically 3 ethnic groups. Sunnis, Kurds and Shiities. The Shiities basically follow the religious thoughts of Iran, and that ethnic group is the larger of the 3 groups and directly opposes the Sunnis. If the Shiities who are friendly to Iran don’t have to deal with the US forces, then Iran may see Iraq as a prime location to take in a big land grab. The history just a few years back was that of civil war over borders. With basically no army, Iraq could fall to the Iranians.

If Iran moves in and has Nuclear Weapons, then what will we do? How can we respond then?

If this was Hitler and Germany during WWII, when would you consider stopping them?

We are in Iraq, so we don’t have to be in Iran. That’s the bottom line.

Jon Stewart, this years Oscar host found himself in a very precarious position this year, as an outsider hosting the “Superbowl” of awards shows. While the beginning of the show, the jokes seemed overly rehearsed and unnatural, it wasn’t very long before we saw the real J.S. that we all know. Stewart’s awkward humor, where the obvious is the punch line, and his naivety is the joke may have been lost on many in the auditorium or viewers out in TVland, however those of us who watch the Daily Show picked up on many of the great jokes and sarcasm.Â

If Stewart is known for anything, he is definitely well known for his ability to pause until the point of unconfortability, and then before it gets too unbearable, he brings you back in for a sigh of relief.Â

You don’t have to laugh out loud to realize he was a good host, you just have to crack a smile.

When over a year ago, when Jon Stewart and Company on the Daily show did a “Satirical Rift” about Xmas, no one said a word, until last week. The big zinger came when one of the collegues of the show filed a report that basically said the government recognizes Xmas and shuts down, but if you’re not a celebrator of said holiday, you should sit home and reflect on the true meaning of Xmas.

(By the way, I’m using Xmas, since it pisses off the ignorant, look up the origin if your curious)

Well, it seems that FOX news has little news to report and has resorted to taken on people who wish you Happy Holidays rather than Merry Xmas, and Bill O Reilly plans to release Horror upon those who are trying to take Xmas away.

Believe me, probably over 90% of American’s celebrate Xmas in one fashion or another. Many of them celebrate it in a Secular way, and could care less about the religious aspect of it. Some American’s who are Eastern Orthodox don’t even celebrate Christmas in December. The Jews celebrate Hanukkah on a different date in December each year (it based on a different calendar). There is also New Years Day, and various other Saint days and holy days.

So happy Holidays is aptly appropriate, and if someone wants to say Holidays GET OVER IT!
