Who is your hero? One particular writer comes to mind for me as of late. Mark Twain. Mr. Twain both provided great fiction and humor in his writing, but he also was very political and serious about a great number of issues. He is an American Icon never to be forgotten. Books of Interest

  • 1984 – George Orwell If you’re not going to read the book, at least see the movie. Maybe I’m just paranoid, but I think I fought to keep my “freedom” alive.

  • Catch 22 – If I know I’m insane, then I must be sane, therefore I’m not insane…. hmmm….

  • The Caine Mutiny – Herman Wouks great Naval Novel, that reminds us that it isn’t the guys who show up after war breaks out that we need to respect as much as the guys who sacrificed other careers during peace time to maintain our freedom, and the ability to respond with a moments notice. That’s the sharp edge of the sword!

Movies & TV

  • ROME – On HBO is about ancient Rome during the time of Caesar. So far it looks very historically accurate, at least according to the things I’ve read and would imagine. Get in now while it is just starting.

  • Sopranos – A long running show on HBO about the Mob in New Jersey, very addictive. High Watercooler Value.

  • Curb Your Enthusiasm – Larry David spoofs himself in one of the best uncensored situation comedies anywhere. This is Seinfeld on steriods.

  • Penn and Teller’s Bullshit – On Showtime, this docutorial (Documentary/Editorial) style program exposes and challenges some of the phoney’s running rampant and unchecked, such as PETA, UFOs, crop circles, bottled water, recycling, genetic foods, germs and homeland security. Oh yeah, there’s lots more.

  • Dead Like Me – On Showtime, this is dark comedy enlightens us on what is means to be alive, and how WE the living take it for granted.

  • Real Time with Bill Maher – A no-rules politically left talkshow filled with tongue in cheek humor. While folks on the left may have an easier time agreeing with Bill, he does get guests from both sides of the political spectrum making it a worthwile show for anyone to watch.

  • Boston Legal – On ABC, hopefully making a triumphant return is the must see show on regular TV. With stars such as William Shatner and James Spader providing an awesome on screen presence, and fantastic scripts, you can be sure to be entertained and educated.

Technology of Interest

Politics - Not to get political on my homepage, but I thought I’d provide some links that could be enjoyable for those so inclined.

  • AirAmericaRadio – Al Franken and believe it or not Jerry Springer have some pretty thought provoking shows. Well worth a listen to.

  • HuffingtonPost – I’ve seen Arianna on the Bill Maher show (HBO) and I didn’t find her very chrismatic, however, her website provides one of the best daily reads. News, original content from all walks of life, and best of all, no ads or pop-ups.

  • Joe Conason – Joe Conason is a frequent guest on the Al Franken show and a regular writer at Salon.com.

  • George Will – Weekly guest on ABC’s This Week show, and conservative columnist. (Provided for balance and prospective).
